The good is silent
When we see the world news we can be shocked with so much suffering and injustice that invade us and tends to make us sad or lose faith in humanity. Why is there so much evil in the world? We might ask. But if we are objective, we need to see things for what they are: the good things also.
Are we attracted to evil? That evilness sells? We have a tendency to be alarmed by what breaks the norm, what is out of the ordinary things in life and disrupts our peace. Evil makes noise, while goodness is silent.
In our lives, we tend to get used to what works, to peaceful spaces and goodwill, and so we forget about what works because we become used to the good and it doesn’t aggravate us. And when good makes noise is when we are at a crossroads or a dilemma: about something.
In the world’s harmony, the meaningful noises are the silent ones that combine with the rest of life’s sounds. Evilness is a noise and it gets our attention because it harms the world’s organizations. If we are shocked by the bad news in the world we find comfort in all the goodness surrounding us that we tend to miss.
There is a good habit or virtue we can practice to have peace: serenity, we can practice it with a meditation of all the good things that happen to allow this evil, or to see the goodness surrounding us, or to hope for what good will come, also to pray helps us have peace because we talk to a Higher Being about what troubles us.
Life moves on in goodness, that is why we grow, let’s keep in mind and be grateful for the good things in life.
