A healing robot
Technology has advanced in a way that has allowed us to reduce pain and live longer. Nowadays old people tend to reach 100 years of age, they live longer and are even healthier than us. There have been many findings about techniques to avoid pain, physical pain, but there is nothing that can take away the suffering. Doctors have tried to relief suffering, but pain is all they can relieve.
In a technological society, where technology seems to resolve and facilitate everything at a fast speed; what if we could make a medical robot? There are not enough medics and nurses in the world who can do their jobs and with the stress they handle, their ethic seems to fail as well as their good judgement.
Disney’s movie Big Hero is about a robot called Bay Max a personal companion to help relive pain and scan for any other diseases and with images that explain the process that will help regain health. But also this robot can help with the emotional side, like a psychologist that can help you cure and attend emotions by simulating to be human: gives hugs, candy, helps relive stress, depression and gives advices on how to cure every aspect of a human life. But can it give meaning to us?
A person is formed by a body and a soul, and there are more things that can give meaning to our lives, for example: one can be happy and live in pain, and there are healthy people but they suffer, which is better? Can a robot help us find meaning? Is technology able to make us live happy? or just comfortable?
