Midas curse

Ancient Greeks used to educate their kids with myths, magical or realistc stories, to show them virtues, actions and ideas so they could live in a world where they needed to survive. We can still apply all those myths to our lives.

All myths have a lesson: in this case the ambition of the king led him to regret his gift by killing his loved ones and starving to death. That is the fate we all have when we can’t see beyond our own noses and try to generalize everything. We all know that money is not the answer to our happiness nor has greed taken anyone to do something great. But these lessons are known.
What we want to talk about is that mankind has the same curse as king Midas, not by touching everything to turn it to gold, but by acknowledging everything we are in contact with and realizing that we are doing it. We may call it a curse or an advantage, but we all share it: we realize who we are and what is going on around us.
We cannot stop being conscious about things around us. When we realize who we are, we are being rational. We may not find a way to express it or to articulate it, but we are being consciouss of what is around and what we are doing. Any other living beings cannot do this, they only react to things without knowing them or why they are doing something.
We share the same fate as king Midas, we are cursed to be only human and not any other thing because we are aware of life. Some may see it as a curse and others as a gift, but lets call it for what it is: a human trait that makes us who we are. We must stop blaming others and start by taking responsibility of what we do.
