Not my fault

There are many things that happen around us; some of them are good or bad, but we are all affected by them. We can’t control what is happening around us but we all have a shared responsibility for how we react and what we do after things happen.

I mean, whatever happens, we can control what we say, do or react to those things. For example, someone falls down the stairs, it is not our fault that happened, but it is our fault what happens afterward: laugh, scream, curse, etc. We may not change the way things work or how the universe conspires against us, but we can control what is happening inside us and how we can react to the world. Perhaps the world is making our lives impossible, but we have the ability to spit back at it… It all depends on the way we want to live.

The Stoics propose two choices to live this life: we can either accept it and be happy or we can be the victims and suffer it. Things will continue to happen, own up to the fact that we are all responsible for what we do, and yes, that is your fault.
