Be effective
How many times have we wondered about stuff, things to do, but we let them pass? We are always more preocupied for what is going to happen next but we don’t act on it, and then, when the time comes, we regret not having done anything. Who can understand us? Apparently we worry too much but we never get to be effective and get ahead of the game with an action. We keep wondering and regretting, opportunities come and go and we are still the same: sitting there being afraid but without taking precautions. It is useless to be like that.
Our thoughts fill our head with things that don’t exist as if they were real, but they aren’t. We are living in the past or the future but not in the present. Saint Augustine talks about time as a thing that can become our rival or ally. We choose to make the most of it or let it pass by without us. Time can be a monster that eats everything that is in its way or we can use it as a tool to make it worth it.
There is a saying ‘time is money’ and it is true if we use time to make it. If we don’t then it seems we are wasting it. Want to make the most of it? Start by being effective. When we think about something we must do, then we must do it! That is what the stoics talked about: Carpediem and nowadays it is called Mindfulness. Be effective by doing things, and matter the consequences (the possibilities our actions may bring). If we thought it through, there is no chance we make it wrong.
