Being against immigration is an act of racism?

The immigration problem is all over the world. Since we are now globalized, we can enjoy the perks of having friends all over the world and get in touch with so many people and opportunities to learn a new language, find a job anywhere, do something new every day. We are now citizens of the world and not just in a country, but everywhere. But there is something we cannot forget, we have an origin, somewhere where we came from and we cannot avoid it because no matter where we are, we may be foreigners in a new country.

However, what happens when a foreigner comes into our country and tries to change it? Suppose we arrive in a new country and expect others to do what we are used to doing in our country, to have the same festivities, creeds, traditions, and language. Now, suppose we live in another country and reject our origins so we can adapt to the new place.

Making a home in another country doesn’t mean we have to make the country our ways but to adapt and respect their traditions, culture, and laws so we can be happy. The Greeks used to have a condition for foreigners when they came to Greece: you can come and stay if you speak our language and believe in our gods. That means respect for their authorities without changing our own beliefs, but to respect them so they can receive you in their land.
