Don’t be your own victim

Life may be rough and hard enough to survive in many ways: money, health, work, environment, there are many things we find our life difficult. Everyone have a difficult existence, there is only a difference: the way we take it. We can be victims of whatever happens and pretend that nothing is our fault, and that we have bad luck. Or we can take responsibility of what we do to make our lives easier. The choice is on us.

Many bad things can happen in our lives: divorce, death of a beloved, not getting a promotion, getting fired, get our heart broken, etc. There are many things that make us say or think: «why me?» as if we are subjects to a terrible conspiracy or menace that hangs upon us or threaten us to be miserable.

In fact, life doesn’t want to get us, it simply is movement, perhaps many things we don’t have fault in it, and other times we are to blame. I mean, that when we try to see reality in our own way and try to change it according to our own views, we might be disenchanted by the outcomes.

When we work hard to get something we want or to make reality be what we like we may find ourselves dumbfounded by the facts: things happen despite what we want or do. It is not personal, simply that is life, it happens. Instead of being the victim and say «why me?», change it to: «why not?»

Life is about opportunities to learn and get ahead and make a statement, perhaps is life making us better, tougher, better people; to stop winning about the past and to get in the game and do things that make life our own domain. This requieres responsibility for the outcome, whatever it might be, but at least we did something.

Stop blaming others and start taking things in your own hands: being happy is thing to do, not something that comes without effort.

What we do has consequences, like Newton’s third law: «for every action there is a reaction». We can control the action so we can enjoy the reaction, no matter what we expected or think, we deserve the outcome, and how we face it make us better or worse. It is always our choice.
