Success
The world want success, is the new way of being happy, or so we think, being successful is to achieve whatever we proposed and get paid for it, there are many success stories around the world that can help us motivate ourselves and others to achieve their dreams and be happy. We might even get jealous of them for going after their dreams and get them in a large scale: Amazon, Netflix, TedTalks, Facebook, etc. There are many successful people that sacrificed themselves to be admired by millions of people, their name are part of our culture and will, perhaps, become history. But to be successful means we are to be famous?
Improvement at anything is based on thousands of tiny failures, and the magnitude of our success is based on how many times we’ve failed at something, but at least we tried. We didn’t just desired or wished for the things we wnat, but we fought in the process to achieve our goals.
If someone is better than us at something, then it’s likely because they have failed at it more than we have. The have become experts in what not to do or which path not to follow to gain success. If someone is worse than us, it’s likely because they haven’t been through all of the painful learning experiences we have taken or suffered. The road is bumpy and may cause us pain and suffering to see that what we want is still far away, but near in the process of achieving it.
We can be truly successful only at something we’re willing to fail at. If we’re unwilling to fail, then we’re unwilling to succeed. To succeed we must fail first, then we will appreciate the value that it carries. The value is an ongoing, lifelong process that defies completion. Let’s think about the successful painter Picasso and his success is that he was always drawing, taking action until he perfected it by being happy to scribble drawings on a napkin alone in a café. His underlying value was simple and humble. And it was endless. It was the value “honest expression.” And this is what made that napkin so valuable.
To be successful is to fulfill a deed that we wished for and that makes us better persons, not fame, nor riches or power, but the fact that we are able to grant ourselves our own happiness without the need of something outside of us. Being successful is to prove ourselves that we can if we put it in action what we want.
