Sense of belonging

We are often part of a group or get inside a society, and no matter where we are, we might feel the same: an outcast. When we think about it we find ourselves in every place that we don’t belong with the circumstance (people, places, ideologies, studies), and would that be wrong?

Should we always need to feel like we belong to be happy? Two ideas come to my mind: the sense of oneself against others, an identity of who we are among others; and the idea of little self-knowledge and the need to belong where we haven’t identified who are will come as an issue.

We need to strive for excellence and give the best we can, instead of just receiving. If we wait for someone to take us in or welcome us, we might be missing the sense of ownership and the self-worth of owning our persona, instead of just blending in without conscience of why we belong.

Let’s see the other side of the problem: why do we want to belong? So we can be accepted, protected, safe and cherished among strangers. That’d be a need for survival, but how did we fit in? We need to be conscious of our own abilities and ideas that make us belong, instead of just blending and feeling belonged.
